Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced Monday that Amazon will invest $5 billion over the next 5 years in the local cloud infrastructure.

The investment supports the "Thailand 4.0" ambition, which promises a digitized Thai economy. Thailand's energy minister talks about a world-class infrastructure that will boost the country's competitiveness and benefit the economy in the long term.

Included in the investment are, for example, data center construction and purchases of goods and services in the local economy. The infrastructure hub of AWS will be in Bangkok to better serve customers and store data more securely.
