Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy wrote a message to all employees today that the company will lay off another 9,000 employees. Many employees from Amazon Web Services, PXT, Twitch and the advertising department will be affected.
Amazon wants to cut costs with the help of the layoffs, because of the uncertain future of the economy, according to Andy Jassy. In the long term, Amazon wants to continue investing in customer experience and currently sees a big opportunity.
In January, Amazon announced a layoff of 18,000 jobs. The new 9,000 were then not announced as departments were not finished with their internal analyses. All employees who are laid off will receive separation payment, health insurance benefits and external job placement assistance.
