Amazon employees will now be paid more fairly; Hourly pay for most is increasing from $18 to $19. According to Amazon, however, this will not be the case for everyone. Pay will remain between $16 and $26 per hour, depending on the position in the company.

The company is preparing for the holiday season with the wage increase. This is because demand rises rapidly during this time. In this way, the company secures the employees who will then process and ship the packages.

The wage increase is also said to be anti-union. Earlier this year, the very first union was formed in Staten Island, New York. With the wage increase, fewer employees are supposed to get loud and join such unions.

In total, Amazon is spending about $1 billion due to the wage increase next year.
