Amazon to be interrogated again by the FTC

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission) is getting to know the Amazon bosses. The company is now being investigated again for violations of the law.

Amazon announced in July the acquisition of the company "One Medical". A few weeks later also came the offer of $1.7 billion for the robot vacuum cleaner company iRobot. So in total, Amazon is spending over $5.5 billion.

This is worrying, as it means less competition is entering the market. Also, sensitive user data is passed on to Amazon, such as health data from OneMedical or the floor plan of the property from iRobot.

The FTC's investigation could halt the acquisition of both companies altogether. However, the purchases will be delayed in any case to see if Amazon would violate any antitrust laws.
