Apple unveiled its cutting-edge VR headset yesterday, priced at $3,499. CEO Tim Cook emphasized that this device is not just meant to be looked at, but looked through. With the help of a smart visor, users can seamlessly switch between augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
Apple's VR headset enables the use of thousands of iPhone apps through the new operating system VisionOS. Although it lacks a separate controller, the headset offers Bluetooth functionality to connect with a Magic Keyboard or Magic Trackpad. It can also be paired with a MacBook.
Equipped with five sensors, twelve cameras, and a 4K display for each eye, the headset delivers an impressive visual experience. The adjustable headband ensures comfort and suitability for every user. The Vision Pro model features an external battery providing up to 2 hours of usage. Powered by a robust M2 chip, the system also incorporates the innovative R1 chip.
CEO Tim Cook confirmed that the development of the VR headset has been underway for several years. With this move, Apple directly competes with Meta's Quest 2 headset.
