Archer Aviation has set itself an ambitious goal for 2025, by which time the company wants to have built 250 eVTOLs. However, the FAA is still trying to classify such an aircraft.

The company, which went public in 2020, aims to produce 250 air taxis by 2025. By 2026, it aims to have 500, and by 2027, 750. CEO Adam Goldstein said in an interview with Reuters that Archer is aiming for a capacity of 2,000 aircraft per year.
But to achieve this goal, the authorities must also play along. That's because the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is still revising the classification of such aircraft. Instead of "small aircraft", the FAA wants to classify them as "powered aircraft".
This new classification is already causing fears that certification will take longer. This is not particularly beneficial to Archer Aviation and other companies that want to manufacture air cabs.
