Baidu's ChatBot does not answer questions about Xi Jinping

Baidu's new chatbot "Ernie" can't answer questions about Xi Jinping.

Baidu released a new ChatBot last week, which is supposed to compete against ChatGPT. In the process, it was asked some questions about Xi Jinping. It turns out that Ernie has too little information about the Chinese president.

Baidu's new ChatBot was asked questions related to Xi Jinping, Taiwan, the Uighurs and Tiananmen Square. The ChatBot replied that it is not trained to answer such questions or to pick up another topic.

Baidu's CEO Robin Li says the ChatBot will be exponentially improved as feedback comes in from the community.

China maintains a strict policy on what can be seen on the Internet. Search queries about critical topics are censored by the government. Whether the ChatBot will be legal in the country remains to be seen.
