Biden calls for bipartisan support to hold big tech companies accountable

U.S. President Joe Biden wants to call for bipartisan action to enforce a law limiting data collection by tech companies.

Biden will call for bipartisan support tonight in his State of the Union address for a law to be passed that would limit data collection by tech companies. Children and young people in particular are to be protected.

Tech companies should collect less data about a user's health or location, according to the Act. Algorithms of the companies should also become transparent and show how the companies collect the data of U.S. citizens.

It is not yet known if or when this law will be enforced. Biden wrote that it will take both parties to hold the big tech companies accountable.
