A press release from Intel says Gordon Moore passed away today at the age of 94. He was part of 8 co-founders of Intel who later had a significant impact on the world of technology.
He served as CEO of Intel (originally called Integrated Electronics) from 1979 to 1987. He also made the prediction in 1965 that the number of transistors in processors would roughly double every year. A decade later, he changed that number to every two years.
His fortune of $7.2 billion is left to his foundation "Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation" to protect the environment.
