Twitter is going crazy because they have already leaked the next generation of Intel processors. But what distinguishes the next generation from the previous one?
Last November, Intel launched a new gaming beast that beats the competition by far. The Intel Core i9-12900K. It has 16 cores, 8 performance cores (P-cores) and 8 efficiency cores (E-Cores). But what is the difference between E-Cores and P-Cores? Assuming you are working on a Word document, it doesn't need any great performance. Thus, the processor can use its E-Cores to save power. However, if you are a passionate gamer, you need the P-cores to get (as the name suggests) more performance. So, the processor can distinguish between high-power and low-power activities.
Exactly the same comes with the leaked Intel Core i9-13900K. However, it will be launched with 24 cores and 32 threads, divided into 16 E-cores and 8 P-cores. However, the processor gets very hot with such a high number of cores. With the Intel Core i9-12900K, temperatures of over 90°C can be reached with water cooling. How will it look with the Intel Core i9-13900K then? The codename for the 13th generation was also leaked. The 12th generation was called "Alder Lake" and the 13th generation will be called "Raptor Lake".
Neither release date nor price were leaked. We'll have to wait and see.
