Japan and the Netherlands will regulate chip exports to China

Japan and the Netherlands are supporting the US with their own measures for regulating chip exports to China. Nikon and ASML will be particularly affected. Neither company is allowed to ship chips or machinery for advanced chip manufacturing to China.

The decision comes in favor of the Biden administration, which in October passed a law regulating chip exports to China. China responded with a $143 billion aid package to the industry.

The regulations are intended to prevent China from having the military upper hand. Chips are a key industry for China's military might. The Biden administration is therefore banning exports to China and subsidizing domestic chip production.
