Neuralink seeks test persons for computer implant

Neuralink is looking for test patients at some neurosurgical centers.

Neuralink has been hoping to cure health conditions like paralysis and blindness since 2016. Now the company is looking for test patients for the first computer chip in the human brain. Neuralink has already contacted some neurological centers, including the largest center in the United States.

It is not clear what the status of the talks is. Regulatory concerns also still need to be removed. Because last year, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) rejected human testing of Neuralink's chips because the agency still has concerns. The company has already been working on it but it is still unclear if the changes have been successful.

In 1997, the FDA gave the green light to a first brain implant that helped patients fight Parkinson's. In Neuralink's case, however, it's not a brain implant but rather a "brain computer interface" (BCI).
