Renault and Nissan renew their agreement. Twenty years ago, Renault bailed out Nissan and bought 43% of the company. A renewed agreement, completed last night, forces Renault to reduce its stake to 15%.

Nissan is to buy 15% of Ampere, which belongs to Renault Groud, in return. This is to create a balance between the two automakers for the next 15 years. Financial information was not disclosed.

Ampere is a company focused on the development, manufacture and sale of electric cars. Ampere is expected to produce a total of 1 million electric cars for Renault by 2031. Mitsubishi is also interested in taking a stake in Ampere.
