Graphics cards are getting better and better from generation to generation. The two biggest producers for this are AMD and NVIDIA. But how do the two flagships of the named companies differ?
According to data from gpu.userbenchmark.com , the RTX 3090 has 24GB of VRAM, while the RX 6900 XT only has 16GB. This means that the RTX 3090 has 50% more VRAM. In 3D gaming, the RTX 3090 is 21% faster than its competitor.
According to the benchmarks, the RTX 3090 has 24% better lighting effects, 18% better reflection effects, and 28% better gravity effects. What NVIDIA's flagship cannot offer, however, is faster multi-rendering. There, the RX 6900 XT was ahead by 10%.
The situation is similar with overclocking. The 3090 increased its lead more in the results.
The market share was 0.92% for the RTX 3090, and 0.32% for the RX 6900 XT. The price is also different, as the RTX 3090 costs 1335 CHF/1290 EUR (at MSRP), while the RX 6900 XT costs almost 33% less, 890 CHF/860 EUR (at MSRP).
Conclusion:
The RTX 3090 can handle 8K gaming, but it is more for rendering work, such as photo or video editing. The RX 6900 XT is more for gamers who don't want to spend too much on a good graphics card. But whether it's worth building a new PC at today's graphics card prices, that will be difficult.
