After graphics cards and RAM sticks, it now also affects SSDs and HDDs. They are in short supply, at least it's assumed so. Many are desperately waiting for a new graphics card, so should we also worry about storage space?

First of all, how do you come up with such an absurd idea that storage space will soon be very hard to come by? The Evergreen ship blocked the Suez Canal for several weeks in 2021. This has consequences to this day.
Also, a certain cryptocurrency is to blame. The cryptocurrency Chia is based on a "proof of space and time" model. This means that the currency is based on memory. Storage, such as SSDs and HDDs consume less power, from which it can be concluded that Chia is more environmentally friendly than other types of cryptocurrencies that require power-hungry graphics cards to mine.

The Chinese SSD manufacturer Jiahe Jinwei has already announced the first measures, which are similar to NVIDIA and AMD. From now on, only limited quantities of SSDs will be sold to prevent miners from buying a large amount of SSDs. In the future, SSDs will also be made specifically for mining, like NVIDIA with their CMP graphics cards. Another measure will be to produce SSDs that are not suitable for mining cryptocurrencies, according to the company.
