Tesla held an opening party in October 2021 in honor of everyone who supported the 5.5 billion investment in the factory in the area. But officially, the factory wasn't even approved yet due to concerns about running out of groundwater. But now the time has come. The factory now has all the permits and can start producing cars.
Tesla CEO Elon Musk has already announced on Twitter that he is excited to hand over the first cars in person. According to Reuters, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was also present.
The goal of the Gigafactory in Berlin is to produce 500,000 cars per year. This would mean that Tesla would produce almost 50% more cars worldwide than in 2021, giving Tesla the opportunity to maintain its annual growth of >50%. Also, European Tesla customers can benefit from this, because until a few months ago the electric cars were imported from Shanghai to Europe, which of course causes a lot of environmental damage.
