The Metaverse only serves for more sales of VR headsets

The Metaverse is a fusion of real life and virtual reality. But the idea is not entirely new.

Meta is best known for its social media apps, but one market segment in which the group is already active is the VR glasses market. However, Meta hardly makes any money with them compared to the advertising revenue. Therefore, it would make sense for the company to focus more on VR glasses, especially because of the Metaverse.

The idea of a virtual reality is not new, though. VRChat is a popular video game that you can play either with or without VR glasses - and it's still free. Those who still want to contribute can buy the VRChat Plus subscription for $9.99 a month. In that, you get nearly the same as you would with the Metaverse.

So Meta is selling the idea of the Metaverse as if it's the first of its kind. This also allows the company to ensure that the Metaverse is only accessible with their VR goggles. So, of course, Meta can sell more of its own VR goggles, which is not morally right.

Because at Apple, they also had the lie that the M1 Ultra was better than an RTX 3090, which was then disproved. Apple also has the problem that you cannot install third-party components, such as an M.2 SSD. Thus, Apple can squeeze every cent out of the customer when he needs more internal storage.
