TikTok's CEO Shou Zi Chew says in a video on the platform that a ban would affect half of the American population of 150 million monthly active users. Tomorrow, the CEO must testify in front of Congress.
In his video, which garnered 7 million views, he asked his community what they like most about TikTok. It is possible that he will reflect the community's voices in Congress tomorrow.
Many American congressmen support a ban on the social media app. However, they would hurt 5 million businesses in the U.S. that use the platform to reach customers. The younger generation is also disregarded in this decision, which would affect the next elections in 2024.
