TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew is due to testify in court on March 23. Lawmakers plan to audit TikTok, according to Cathy McMorris Rodgers, head of the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
The news comes after the House of Representatives is set to vote next month on a bill that would decide whether to block TikTok in the United States. The reasons for blocking, she said, is that the Chinese government can freely access data on Americans.
The CEO's questioning is intended to educate the American people about how data is processed and how the processing affects the privacy and security of individual users.
