TSMC will start mass production of its 3 nanometer chips in Taiwan starting today. The CEO of the company says that TSMC will continue to expand their capacity on the island and Taiwan will always be the core of production.

The demand for the 3 nanometer chips is apparently there as well, the CEO said. New products and innovations are expected to benefit greatly, most notably 5G and high-performance devices.

TSMC will also increase its Arizona investment from $12 billion to $40 billion, the company said in early December. This is expected to build $1.5 trillion in market value products within 5 years.

TSMC is also already working on a 2 nanometer fab, which will be located in northern and central Taiwan.
