In recent months, TikTok has been in the government spotlight more and more often. The US is currently considering a law that would ban the Chinese social media app completely. The EU has also passed a law banning members of parliament from having TikTok installed on their smartphones.

The UK also has concerns about the platform. The National Center for Security is now looking into the app's risks. Whether a decision will be made to ban it on government phones remains to be seen.

TikTok says the company would be disappointed if a ban came into effect. Other governments' decisions came into effect based on false information and geopolitical reasons, the company said.
