UK minister Oliver Dowden said today that a ban on TikTok on government phones would take effect immediately. He said that data protection was too poor for the government. Only apps that are on a pre-approved list can now be installed on government phones.

As of Tuesday, the decision had not yet been made. The National Center for Security was reviewing risks of the app at the time.

The EU and U.S. have also introduced a ban on TikTok, which requires that no member of parliament have the Chinese social media app installed on their government device.
